i know they're not supposed to go in the dishwasher, but the other ones i've owned still made it a year or so before the pieces split apart

@wolf480pl@mstdn.io Oh I think it's cool that there's actually two different black colors to chose from.
On the other hand I cringe when I think about the fact that actual manhours were probably spent to formulate two multiple different shades of plastic and rubber color blends for this matching specific pantone colors and then having to go through the whole design process trying not to confuse the two and get a factory to go along with this.

They had a black one of those specifically labled "for mac" but the color was actually different and it at least had "(for mac)" in it.
This one doesn't. These two photos are of the same SKU on logitech's website, one of them is "graphite" and the other is "space black".
I feel like I'm going mad

And also, asking for support and getting a phone call for someone who isn't an underpaid indian only a minute or two after the appointment was made is much better than any other tech giant I've worked with. Just a guy with a bri'ish accent.
When I contact Microsoft through work I have to submit a ticket with my phone number, timezone and working hours, then they blatantly ignore the timezone and an indian calls me 9 hours later outside of my working hours anyways. And they never resolve the issue, we waste 20 minutes setting up a screen sharing session just so they can try the thing i already said doesn't work in the ticket, then go "oh, yeah this isn't how it's supposed to be" then I have to wait like a day or two before i get help from someone who can actually fix anything.
So I guess the profit margins apple pull must at least be going towards something.

I believe the example I was given was that simply drawing a triangle with Vulkan is way more of a pain than with low-level DX12.

Apple claims the Macbook Neo can do "4K60".
But I think that might actually specifically be a software limitation as well, not hardware. Apple seems to have limited display output on the Neo so the width can't be greater than 3840px (as in 3840x2160).
Connecting it to my Odyssey G9 with a native resolution of 5120x1440, it won't let me select the native res, even at 60Hz, despite it theoretically being less bandwidth than 4K60.
It will even let me do 3840x1080 @ 120Hz, but no 5120x1440 whatsoever.
Similarly the LG C2 in my living room accepts DCI 4K (4096x2160) in addition to the typical consumer 4K (3840x2160). But nope, when I connect the Neo to my C2, the only 4K option it gives me is 3840x2160.
I think the Macbook Neo actually has a hardcoded resolution limit along the lines of:
if( $displayWidth > 3840) {
refuse;
}
This might apply to 2160 vertically as well, but I don't have a display with a greater vertical resolution to test with.

I set the resolution scale to 50% just to try and remove GPU as a bottleneck, and the Neo pretty much holds a rock solid 60fps in stray at low settings (besides mesh quality which is medium)
Considering it gets ~50 at 100% res scale there's definitely some optimal setting in-between, I just can't be bothered to find it.
But Stray actually plays perfectly fine on the Neo, 50% res scale is a bit too soft for my liking though, but it's also only a 13" screen. If I was stuck in a hotel room for a couple of days I'd just game on this rather than bringing a separate gaming device.

And from what he's told me second-hand, at least around here, there's definitely at least 1 in 10 schools which would consider paying slightly more, if only they provided the same level of service that Google does.

Not every country is like the US where teachers get paid in peanuts and students are running on nothing but corporate sponsored pizza.
All Apple needs to do is snag like 5-10% of the market and they'll have a solid foothold.

@VD15@pl.valkyrie.world Sometimes you don't even need to go that far. If you visit a site like https://www.helsenorge.no/ (our portal for public healthcare) you'll notice that every single web request contains a header named "X-Azure-Ref" so you can find the web request in Azure.
And yes, this means all of my healthcare info is probably stolen by Microsoft whether I like it or not, cool right?

@VD15@pl.valkyrie.world You wouldn't believe how ingrained Microsoft is here in Norway. From what I've heard we're among the worst, to the point we don't even seem to have track of how much money we give Microsoft in total.
The best estimate I've found is here: https://www.stortinget.no/no/Saker-og-publikasjoner/Sporsmal/Skriftlige-sporsmal-og-svar/Skriftlig-sporsmal/?qnid=105081
Which states it's around 21 billion NOK for IaaS/PaaS and SaaS. In USD that would be ~$2.1 billion. For a country with only 5.5 million inhabitants.
Or put another way, Norway gives $400/year to Microsoft per citizen. Simply by existing in this country, I am giving Microsoft $400/year outside of my control, thanks to the government.

Swift isn't necessarily a bad language, but it is a corporate-developed language biased mostly towards one platform. Seems like a dumb choice for a browser that one would expect to try and maintain portability and be cross-platform.
