I noticed around twenty years ago that insects in Europe were in serious decline. It didn’t even need a ‘scientific study’ and I use the same methodology today. In the 1980s, in summer, when I drove in Europe, the windscreen of my car was covered in dead insects after only 100km of driving. By the early 2000s this was no longer true. Many fewer bug-splats on the glass. Now? Hardly any at all. You cannot blame Climate Change for this. This is down to excessive pesticides and farming techniques. Now studies show bird populations in serious decline. Ever wonder what they used to eat? More #tabletop #rpg #gaming today. The final room revealed an enemy we’d not met yet- who killed our Assassin (ninja) with their first attack. The Shikarri detest darkstone and mutation, and their Crusaders aim to wipe it from the galaxy. For every mutation or darkstone gear, etc, you gave they get +1 damage on tgeir (normally 2 damage) hits. They were doing 7 damage per hit against Kiku the Ninja, and ALL targetted her, owing to her mutations and gear. She only has 16 health. 😳 Fortunately, tge Samurai had a revive token or we’d have been cooked. Tricky fight. #shadowsofbrimstone #MiniatureGaming

Tesco boss gives himself millions in a payrise, full-time Tesco employees are so poorly paid that they have to claim Tax Credits (state benefit) to pay their bills, but the company installed twice as many SS tills as operator ones. Billionaires only care about money. It’s vile.

In my adult life I was a combat soldier, rugby player, full-contact ring fighter, endurance runner, off-road unicyclist, etc. The covid lockdown let my years catch up with me, and now the body won’t do the things I expect it to any more. Okay, I’m retired, but it is shocking how difficult something like walking over the Pennines is now compared to 5 years ago. Finding an exercise routine that doesn’t just ‘hurt’ is difficult. 😂

The combined ‘sensible’ votes came to 65% BUT there was only a 47.2% voter turnout! Ouch. @benroyce@mastodon.social UK suffers a similar problem. Apathy. Nonvoters letting extremists get a toe hold. There’s a Parliamentary election in Manchester today. The fascist Reform (private limited company) party have broken almost every electoral rule in the run up to it. The state media have platformed the fascists. Nobody has been censured. Everyone is hoping that enough native Mancunians can see through the bullshit and get out to vote gainst them. This is NOT helped by lying pollsters - fascists maiing up their own, the Greens deliberately misrepresenting data (caught by UK Full Fact). We’ll have the answer tomorrow morning, until then we’re just hoping that people have more sense than turkeys that vote for Christmas.

I love playing #shadowsofbrimstone and am a writer. Naturally, I am going to create my own adventures for it.

The game system allows for some creative ways to arrange outings with interesting mechanics, which don’t require a games master.

I have one great idea bubbling already. May talk the group into playtesting it this weekend. See if the danger level is high enough.

It would be fun to create a printable sheet for it that mimics the official missions, since I already have every piece of art, layout, and formatting software I need thanks to making my own books for alpha readers and e-book sales.

Bought yet another garden camera for Sylvie. This one is part of a #Birdfy bird feeder. It should strap nicely to our cherry tree. If I find a good spot, it will have a view of the fat-ball feeders too. Have it charging now, then will fill and fit it tomorrow. Wildlife Cameras were the only things she wanted as gifts, and it makes sense, us being on the edge of wilderness. I can see us going through several extra sacks of bird seed this year! 😂 If she gets any good pictures, I’ll share some of them. We don’t get exotic birds here though. Sparrows, dunnocks, robins, blue tits, coal tits, great tits, starlings, blackbirds, and magpies, mainly. If anyone in the #uk has ideas about what seeds to use to get more species, I am happy to learn. #Birds #WildLifePhotography

@erikcats@dice.camp Didn’t want to clutter your dice cup post with irrelevance, so… Our dice superstition got so bad that we are forced to use Dice Towers, a huge pool of dice, and each die only gets rolled once until we have worked our way through the entire pool. 😂 We tried many different dice colours, manufacturers, materials, cups, trays, gaols, etc., first. Only the dice towers and single-use-per-die makes us feel like WE are not responsible, in any way, for the disgusting results. 🤪 😳

Been painting like crazy ready for tomorrow’s #shadowsofbrimstone #rpg #tabletopgames session. I don’t like batch painting, but when you need 6 Lizardmen and a Lizard Shaman, well. @AllianceMerode@piaille.fr I like them much more than GW paints, particularly the dropper bottles. I use their standard paints and speedpaints (still on 1.0). Vallejo are similar, and I prefer their metallics to AP owing to the better flow (maybe I was just lucky and got good bottles?). The GW paint pots get knocked over way too often, and dry out over time. Never had that problem with AP or Vallejo.

I think I found my new ‘forever’ #coop #boardgame #dungeoncrawler Shadows of Brimstone. Played it last night - failed on the FIRST mission! Loved it 🥰 My birthday wishlist now consists solely of expansions and enemy packs for this game. I played #warhammerquest since it first appeared, for around 30 years now, and have literally hundreds of miniatures and every expansion for that game This one feels like its spiritual successor with added Horror and environment/time travelling capabilities. Anyone who loved WHQ95 will feel right at home in some version of this game. Wild West, Feudal Japan, Vikings, Inside a giant monster, Swamplands, Conquistadors, etc. Yes. Remember, with Linux, you can make it look like anything you want. I like the built in Cinnamon and skin it to look like a Mac, using the built in library of customisation add-ons. Unlike WinSlop, no bloat unless YOU add it. 😇

Been painting the minis from #shadowsofbrimstone Swamps game over the last two days. Got the heroes done. 6 tentacles almost complete. Great game. Think Warhammer Quest + Cthulhu + Wild West. Started the HUGE Demon tonight. Oh boy. Nice model. Going to think about those rotten leathery wings for a while. Settled on Necrotic Flesh for the body, and Blood Red horns, on the basecoating. May try bone and very light beige colouring. Will be checking out some other painters’ treatment of undead/demonic wings for ideas. #miniaturepainting #demon #wings #Nurgle #undead

@50Percent_Cooler@pony.social With advances in WINE, Proton, etc., more and more native WinSlop software can run under Linux. I still nag companies to produce a Linux compiled version of their product though. 😇 25+ years ago, native Linux game compiles were quite common from folk like ID Software. I used to create them myself when I worked in those engines simply with compiler switches. Keep hoping people will start doing that again, but I think many company utilise commercial libraries now that don’t provide a Linux version.

Back around 1993, when I wanted to run #linux at home, I had to double the memory of my system from 4MB to 8MB. Yes, MEGABytes. 😇 It cost me 100UKP for the extra stick, so I could run Slackware 2 efficiently and work from home, to interface with the University Unix system. So, the price came down… over time… but today’s silly artificially inflated prices? No thanks. #ram #memory #pc #upgrades
